He has taught thousands of people such skills and experiences as rock climbing, mountaineering, avalanche courses, backcountry skiing, and hiking, as well as training other guides in wilderness medicine, avalanche education, and basic mountain skills. He is a certified Wilderness EMT, Level 3 avalanche certified, works on the Crested Butte Ski Patrol, and as an avalanche forecaster with the Crested Butte Avalanche Center.
